Short term income protection policies these are sometimes known as ASU. These plans are not usually subject to medical underwriting as pre-existing conditions are excluded. Benefit is usually restricted to 12 or 24 months. Most plans are restricted to £1500 per month, benefit although some provide benefit levels up to £2500. The sickness benefit available from these plans is usually restricted to between 50% and 75% of your pre-disability income.
